YANKTON, S.D. (AP) - The mother of an Army soldier from Yankton says he is recovering after being wounded in Afghanistan.

Susie Gill tells the Yankton Daily Press & Dakotan newspaper that 22-year-old Pvt. Zack Haas is doing fine after suffering shrapnel wounds to one of his legs when the helicopter he was in came under a rocket attack earlier this week.

Haas was deployed to Afghanistan with the 82nd Airborne Division in June.

Gill says she's looking forward to seeing her son in North Carolina at the end of month when he returns to the U.S. with the rest of his unit.
