We're closing in on a month to go before the 2013 NBA Draft and Yankton native Colton Iverson figures to be part of the festivities.

DraftExpress.com has the Colorado State senior going 18th in the second round (48th overall) to the Los Angeles Lakers in the latest NBA mock draft.

Not bad for a guy whose career seemed to be stalled out after three seasons playing at the University of Minnesota.

But a transfer to Colorado State was just the right move for the seven-footer, as he tyrned in a season good enough to earn him Mountain West newcomer of the year and first-team all-conference honors.

Iverson recently told the Denver Post:

If you would have asked me two years ago, or anyone else in America, if I would be in this position, they would probably say no.

His season in Fort Collins opened plenty of eyes around America, but it was his performance at this month’s NBA Draft Combine that helped put his draft stock on the rise.

Another thing that stood out for Iverson at the combine, her tipped the scales at nearly 263 pounds, making him one of the biggest draft prospects out there.

It's not necessarily a bad thing to be the heaviest guy in this draft, because there's a lot of skinner guys that won't necessarily be able to bang in the league next year.

Just about all of Iverson's draft preparation now involves individual workouts for NBA teams, starting this week in Brooklyn, with at least 15 more stops along the way before draft night June 27th.

This is the time of my life right now.

I'm enjoying being everywhere I've been.

Some people look at it as a tiring process and a drag, but I look at every opportunity as a positive and take it for what it is — it's fun.
