Despite being the resident classic arcade gaming guy here at Arcade Sushi, even I was surprised to learn that there was a laserdisc game featuring the comedian Gallagher. What the heck kind of game is that?

Gallagher's Gallery (a.k.a. Gallagher), came out in 1992 by American Laser Games, the creators of the Mad Dog McCree laserdisc games. It's an interactive shooting game where Gallagher taunts players in four different stages. After you complete the four stages, you then move on to the gallery, where you shooting rubber duckies, bowling pins and other items. Once you've completed those stages, you then challenge Gallagher in, "The Death By Melon" stage, where you try and stop him from smashing watermelons.

What an odd game. I have never seen this in the arcades, and I frequented quite a few arcades in my day. KLOV lists this as ranking a 1 on a scale out of 100 (100 = most often seen, 1=least common), which means the game really sucks or it's really hard to find. Probably the former.

Kotaku has an article showcasing all of the video clips from the game. Looks terrible. Maybe that's why no one has ever heard of it? Here's one of the clips:

Maybe Gallagher's Gallery is located in one of our Arcade Spotlight features? Who knows. If you've ever seen or played the Gallagher game, let us know how it is in the comments.
