Work to Begin on Highway Project
Traffic through a busy area of southeast Sioux Falls is about to get a little more complicated.
Work begins Tuesday, May 28 on an $18.3 million reconstruction of the intersection of State Highway 11 and East 57th Street.
The State Department of Transportation says the work will include grading the existing surface and laying asphalt pavement in the northwest, northeast and the southeast quadrants of the intersection.
Traffic will be maintained in the southwest quadrant while the work goes on, but the DOT says northbound 57th Street traffic will be switched to the southbound lanes, while eastbound and westbound traffic will be reduced to a single lane.
Access will be maintained to local residences and businesses, and access to Harmodon Park will be maintained off both 41st and 57th Streets.
The DOT says the project is expected to be completed by Oct. 25.
