Wishbone Ash Announce Tour Dates
British progressive rock legends Wishbone Ash have announced the dates for a North American tour this spring. Their upcoming road trek will begin on Feb. 28 in New Hampshire and wend its way through the Northeast, the Midwest and a couple of dates in Canada before wrapping up in Oregon on March 21.
Wishbone Ash were one of the most important pioneers of the twin guitar sound that influenced the likes of Thin Lizzy, Iron Maiden, Lynyrd Skynyrd and more recently, Opeth. The group are best-known for their classic 1972 album 'Argus,' which produced Wishbone classics like 'Blowin' Free,' 'The King Will Come' and 'Warrior.' The band have been through a number of lineups and released more than 20 studio projects over the course of their four-decade career.
In 2011 Wishbone Ash released a new album titled 'Elegant Stealth.' Featuring original guitarist and vocalist Andy Powell, guitarist Muddy Manninen, bassist Bob Skeat and drummer Joe Crabtree, the record was hailed as a return to form by many reviewers, with Classic Rock Revisited calling it “one of the best albums in Wishbone Ash’s 42 year career.”
They hit the road last spring for a successful tour in support of 'Elegant Stealth,' and this year's schedule finds Wishbone Ash returning to many of those same venues, as well as dates in Canada and on the West Coast. Select dates of the tour will feature the group performing 'Argus' live in its entirety.
