Meteorologist Jeff Chapman of the National Weather Service in Sioux Falls says the brunt of this week's winter storm is over for Southeast South Dakota.

In Jeff's words, "snowfall from 3 to 5 inches were received across the area on Thursday and through the overnight hours. In Sioux Falls so far about 4 and a half inches have fallen.  We can expect the light snow to continue into the mid morning hours.  Overall, we're looking for only between a quarter and a half inch of additional accumulation at most."

What about additional snowfall in the next few days?  "Our weather will quiet down significantly after this system gets out.  Through New Year's day and little beyond---we're not looking for any storm systems in the area."
