For those of you not aware, every October 16 is World Food Day. It's a day set aside each year to take action against hunger.

The day was first established back in 1979 through the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations.

Since its inception, World Food Day has grown to be observed in almost every country in the world.

The motto of the day is, "When it comes to hunger, the only acceptable number in the world is zero."

Even here in the U.S., one of the richest countries in the world, one in seven Americans - which figures out to be 14.3% - does not have enough to eat.

There are various ways for you and I to be part of the solutions to hunger - from hunger walks and World Food Day dinners, to meal packaging events and food drives.

Having grown up on a farm, I'm thinking the best place to start is by thanking a farmer - it's the American Farmer who feeds the entire world!

Whose with me?
