Which Stars of Today Would Team Up With Scooby and the Gang?

There have been approximately  1547 different Scooby Doo series since the Mystery gang first hit the scene in the late 60s. There was the original “Scooby Doo Where Are You. The sad Scrappy Doo years. The ones with Scooby’s country cousin. The horrid baby Scooby Doo time and that weird phase when it was just Scooby, Daphne and Shaggy.

The latest version was on Cartoon Network. It was called Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated. It ended up being pretty good. It got off to a goofball start with the Shaggy/Velma love/stalker story, but it ended up having solid ‘monster of the week’ episodes and series long story arc. There was also a nice bit of self referential, Meta humor.

But the best one of them all was the New Scooby-Doo Movies. It ran from 1972 to 1974 and was the second official incarnation of Scooby and the gang. Each episode was an hour long and featured famous guest stars, from Hollywood even, that needed the gang’s help to solve a mystery.

The most famous episodes are probably when the gang ran into Batman and Robin and helped them battle The Penguin and Riddler.  They also met up with The Addams Family, The Harlem Globetrotters  and Sandy Duncan. Which

The show is fun and goofy and my kids love it, which means I’ve seen most of the episodes over and over. And that makes me wonder; which modern stars would make great guests on a new New Scooby-Doo Movies? I have some ideas.

Let’s skip the obvious Justin and Taylor and start with Kelly Clarkson. She seems like a fun and cool person and would fit in great with the gang. Here’s my story pitch:

On the way to a special Kelly Clarkson concert at an amusement park, The Mystery Machine’s GPS malfunctions and sends the gang into the woods where they find Kelly’s bus stuck on the side of the road.  The find Kelly trying to get a phone signal. The gang has to help her get to the show and save the park from foreclosure,, and unmask Mr. Crabtree who wants to sell the park.

Here is great tie-in episode.

Scooby and Shaggy are following the smell of pumpkin spice lattés through the woods when they stumble on The Hunger Games. Katniss must stop the bumbling pair from dashing for the cornucopia and stepping on the mines. They save the world and unmask President Snow to find it was old Mr. Crabtree the whole time. He just wants those darn kids to stay off his lawn and he’s sorry about the whole soul-dog thing.

One More.

While jogging in the woods Velma and Daphne find a body. The gang then teams with Special Agent Jethro Gibbs, Abby and Dr. Mallard to find the killer and stop an international crisis from escalating to disaster. In the end the gang find McGee tied up in a broom closer and unmask the man pretending to be Tim and find Ol Mr. Crabtree. It has something to do with Ziva’s brother or something.

Who do you think would make a good guest star?
