The Miami Heat and the Chicago Blackhawks are the hottest teams in their respective sports and their winning streaks are gaining attention for most impressive streaks in sports history.

The Miami Heat haven't lost since February 1st, have won fifteen games in a row, and own the eighth longest streak in NBA history. Their upcoming schedule notes that their streak could reach past 20 games. They play at home against the Magic Tuesday night, at home against Philadelphia Friday and at home against Indiana on Sunday. Then, they play the Hawks, 76ers again, Milwaukee, Toronto, and then Boston. Indiana, the East's present two-seed and Boston will most likely give the Heat their biggest challenges on their upcoming schedule. The Heat's game on Sunday against the Pacers is interesting because their last loss came on February 1st against Indiana.

The Blackhawks extended their streak to 23 wins in regulation last night with a win against the Minnesota Wild and set a Blackhawks team record of 10 wins in a row. Chicago owns the lost streak to start a season without a loss in regulation. Their next five games are against Colorado (twice), Edmonton, Columbus, and Dallas.

Where does the Heat and Blackhawks streak line up with the best streaks in sports history? Let's take a look.

In 1971-1972, the Los Angeles Lakers won 33 straight games. This is the longest streak in NBA history. The next longest streak belongs to the Washington Bullets and Milwaukee Bucks with 20 games in a row.

From 1953 to 1957, the Oklahoma Sooners football team won 47 games in a row. That's four full seasons without a loss or tie.

The New York Giants (baseball) team in 1916 won 26 games in a row (25 and a tie).

The Pittsburgh Penguins won 17 games in a row in 1993, and the Philadelphia Flyers went unbeaten from the 1979 to 1980, winning 35 games in a row.

In women's basketball, the Connecticut Huskies women's basketball team won 90 straight games and the Baylor Bears women's basketball team went 40-0 last year. Both streaks are remarkable in itself.

Penn State football had 46 non-losing seasons from 1939 to 1987.

The Tennessee Volunteers football team shutout opponents for 71 quarters from 1938 to 1940. This streak also included 17 straight shutouts.

For best championship streaks, UCLA winning seven straight NCAA college basketball titles from 1967 to 1973, the Boston Celtics winning eight straight NBA titles from 1959 to 1966, the New York Yankees five straight World Series titles from 1949 to 1952, or the Montreal Canadiens winning five straight Stanley Cup titles from 1956 to 1960 are very impressive.

The worst streaks may be Prairie View A&M losing 80 college football games from 1989 to 1998, the Chicago Cubs infamous streak of not winning the World Series for 104 years, the Winnipeg Jets losing 30 games in a row in 1930, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers losing 26 games or the Detroit Lions finishing a season winless.
