With its well-deserved buzz and Emmy win for star Julia Louis-Dreyfus, 'Veep' is bound to attract some major attention for its impending second season.  We've already heard at least one name joining in a recurring capacity, that of former 'Luck' and 'Transformers' star Kevin Dunn, but who's next?  Well, according to one source, character actor Gary Cole is about to join the Vice Presidential sitcom in a major recurring role, but as whom?  And what political figure might he be based on?

Gary Cole as Karl Rove?  Well, not quite, but close.  According to Deadline, the little-of-everything actor and one-time 'West Wing' star will join the second season of HBO's Julia Louis-Dreyfus fronted political comedy 'Veep, appearing in as many as eight of the ten episodes.

Details of Cole's role (heh) are being kept somewhat under wraps for the moment, but the talk suggests that the actor will take the role of "Kent," a Karl Rove-type figure.  Cole is the second big name to join the Emmy-winning comedy in the past few weeks, following the announcement that former 'Luck' star Kevin Dunn would recur as the President's chief of staff Ben.

Whereas the first season ran alongside fellow female Emmy-buzzer 'Girls,' the second season of 'Veep' will premiere sometime in mid 2013.  Will you be tuning in to see what Selina Meyer makes of Gary Cole?
