A juvenile made his way to the fire station on South Sycamore Avenue Saturday afternoon around 5:30. He said he had been shot in the leg at Walmart on Arrowhead Parkway in Sioux Falls in a failed robbery attempt.

The young man was taken to an area hospital and was treated for non-life threatening injuries. Monday, after the teen kept changing his story, it was determined that the story was fabricated and the boy had accidentally shot himself in the leg with a .22 caliber pistol while waiting for his mom who was in the store shopping.

The boy has been released from the hospital and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.
