The flood we remember. It was only a couple weeks ago so the memory is fresh.

One of the hardest hit areas by the rushing waters was 49th and Louise Avenue and stretching west toward Valhalla Boulevard. Over six inches of rain in a short amount of time brought a lot of water and a considerable amount of damage.

A report last week showed an extensive repair was needed and it would take some time to complete the task. Officials from Sioux Falls Public Works have figured out the best way to remedy the situation and put the plan in action.

Crews arrived Tuesday afternoon to remove the old concrete and put new material in its place. During the event, it made a right turn from Valhalla on to 49th Street a little challenging. The car or bus would have to use a part of the westbound left turn lane on 49th Street to enter the street with the construction crews doing their work.

Public Works anticipates the street to be fully operational by the end of the week.
