If you've been driving on South Minnesota Avenue in Sioux Falls, you have probably seen "Uncle Sam" (alias Larry Scribner) performing his dance routine for Liberty Tax Service.  Larry, a professional musician, has been showing his moves in the parking lot during the tax season for the past 6 years.

I've been impressed with Larry's "enthusiasm" especially during the cold weather. So, I decided to find out more about this passionate dancer.

After shooting video of his dance moves, I visited with Larry and learned he has been an entertainer since elementary school.  "When I was in 9th grade," Larry tells KSOO Radio, "I heard my first Beatles song and said, 'hey, if I get a set of drums, I could do that!  I could get in a band and have fun and make money and meet girls.'  When I was 15, my family moved back to Texas.  I got my first set of drums and formed a band.  We played mostly Beatles music."

It didn't take long before Larry and his band hit the big time!  "We played in Dallas Fort Worth 6 to 7 years and then went on the road.  We backed up Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Canned Heart, 3 Dog Night, Rare Earth, Charlie Daniels, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and Chubby Checkers."

Although he's no longer a full time entertainer, Larry Scribner says he considers himself a performer.  In his words, "what I do here is just another stage!"
