An unauthorized biography of Van Halen guitarist and co-founder Eddie Van Halen, titled Eruption, has been acquired by the Faber and Faber publishing company and will arrive in 2015. The book is written by music journalist Paul Brannigan, who also wrote a biography of Dave Grohl titled This Is A Call and is co-author of an upcoming two-volume history of Metallica called Birth School Metallica Death.

According to Blabbermouth, the book will offer "the first real examination of a true musical icon, (and) will also turn up the volume on a life lived in popular music's fast lane."
Van Halen officially wrapped the touring cycle for its 2012 album, A Different Kind Of Truth, at the California Mid-State Fair in Paso Robles, California earlier this year.

A Different Kind Of Truth, the band's first album with original vocalist David Lee Roth in 28 years, came out February 7th, 2012 and the tour started 11 days later. But it came to a halt during that summer due to "exhaustion" and was further sidelined by Eddie's surgery for diverticulitis. The group returned this year for a gig in Australia, four dates in Japan and two U.S. shows.
