During the Wednesday Police Media Briefing, Sioux Falls Police Information Officer Sam Clemens says two out of state residents were arrested on prostitution related charges in a hotel located in south west Sioux Falls.

"We had a hotel that had a tip regarding some behavior that appeared to be prostitution. Once the street crimes officers got the information, they found an ad that corresponded with that activity."

Clemens says that's when the arrests were made Tuesday evening.

"We were able to find a woman that was prostituting herself and a man that was pimping her. Both of them were arrested."

Clemens says prostitution is becoming more common in Sioux Falls.

"I think it's really been there with the internet and the way the ads are posted.  It's making it easier for people to find out about prostitution. The flip side is it's easier for us to find the people that are involved with the crime and then make the arrests.

Clemens says the street crimes officers spend a lot of time working with the hotels in the city and are educating management and employees so they know about the type of  behavior associated with prostitution.

In the Tuesday arrests, Clemens says a 34 woman from Chicago was charged with prostitution and the 24-year old man from Houston was charged with pimping.
