Just as the football season for the University of South Dakota has reached one of its best two Coyote players have been arrested on rape charges.

Police in Vermillion, South Dakota, say in a statement that Danny Rambo and Dale Williamson turned themselves in Monday evening.

The two arrests come from an incident that happened on October 22, which occurred in an off-campus residence in Vermillion. Both men turned themselves in without incident.

University president James W. Abbott says the accusations are very troubling and the school is cooperating with police.

University of South Dakota Athletics Director David Herbster has issued the following statement in regards to Monday’s arrests of Danny Rambo and Dale Williamson:

“South Dakota athletics is taking this accusation very seriously. The athletic department became aware on Wednesday, Oct. 25, and immediately notified the appropriate university officials, who in turn notified the Vermillion Police Department. We have been cooperating fully with VPD’s investigation and will continue to do so.

“We are steadfast in our support of the university’s commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for all students.”
