Two City Pools Set To Close For Season

Want more proof that this has been one of the oddest weather years on record for Sioux Falls? Two city pools will close for the season this weekend. Yes. August 11, 2013. Isn't it supposed to be about 95 degrees with high humidity right now? It's Sioux Empire Fair week. It's ALWAYS hot during the Fair, right?

Nope. Cooler temperatures have actually closed the city pools on a couple of occasions this summer and with forecasted highs next week staying only in the 70's with lows in the 50's, I'm guessing helped make the decision a little easier to close early, though no official word came with the release.

School starts up in Sioux Falls August 19th as well, but I've talked to several friends who have brought their kids to the pools late afternoon/early evening and have had them to themselves.

So Spellerberg and McKennan Park pools will close for the season Sunday evening at 9 p.m.

The rest of the pools will remain open...for now.
