We've all been there before. That stingy, repetitive chorus of a song is stuck in your head and you cannot find a way to stop hearing or singing it.

You've probably tried everything to get rid of that earworm. Blasting the car stereo, singing another song, or working on a puzzle, only seems to relieve the stress momentarily. Finally, you just give in and let that earworm run its course until it's finally gone.

Have no fear of that song sticking with you any longer music loving people! A new study has a simple, and effective way to get rid of that terrible chorus that's on replay.

It's as easy as chewing gum. Yes, for real.

Researchers have released a study saying that chewing gum significantly increases the chances that songs will get un-stuck. The researchers used three different experiments to test the theory, and each experiment resulted in gum helping get rid of those earworms.

The experiments were so successful that the study was published in The Quarterly Journal of Experimental Psychology (Volume 68, Issue 6, 2015).

This might not work for everyone, but at least there is something that might be able to help. Just give it a shot next time and see if it works.

Now please excuse me. I am off to find a piece of gum so I can finally get Eiffel 65's "Blue" from 1999 out of my head.
