It never hurts to be aware if someone is standing behind you in line.

Police say a customer at a convenience store in southwest Sioux Falls had his cash taken from him early Wednesday by a man who was behind him in line.

Information Officer Sam Clemens says it was around 2:30am when the 43-year-old man was paying for his purchase at the Holiday Station in the 4600 block of West 41st Street.

He says the customer reached into his pocket, pulled out a wad of cash and laid it on the counter. When he did, a man behind him reached around, grabbed the cash and took off running.

Clemens says another man held the door for the thief, and they got into a car and drove away.

The man who took the cash was described as a black male, six-feet-two and 180 pounds, and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, while the man who held the door was also described as a black male,

The amount of cash taken from the customer was not released.
