What you don't know can kill you! So I feel it's my duty to tell you that there are certain times of the day when your body could literally kill you!

Dr. Roshini Raj from NYU Langone Medical Center says that according to research there are two times of day during which you are more vulnerable to illness and disease. The 6 A.M. hour is dangerous because you have a surge of the stress hormone cortisol which can lead to development of blood clots and increased heart attack risk.

She suggests that to battle the cortisol surge you go back to sleep for 10 or 15 minutes and de-stress your morning routine as much as possible by doing things like deciding what you and the kids are wearing the next day, and getting lunches put together, the night before.

At the opposite end of your day, around the 9 o'clock hour your blood pressure hits it's peak, and high blood pressure isn't called "the silent killer" for nothing! It can lead to coronary damage, heart attacks, stroke, kidney damage, vision loss and more! Dr. Raj suggests you talk to your physician about taking your blood pressure medication at night to battle this rise in blood pressure during the time when it is most dangerous. And perhaps also ask about taking aspirin at night to reduce heart attack risk when 6 A.M. rolls around again!

I don't have high blood pressure, but I certainly plan on hitting the snooze button even more often, now!
