The Better Business Bureau, along with authorities, are racing to warn people about a fake color race that doesn't even exist. The Color 5 Mile race has a website that has Sioux Falls on the event schedule. The problem is - no one knows anything about it.

There is a $45 entry fee that participants are required to send in to be in the color race. Authorities have received no replies after numerous attempts to reach the organizers.

The Color 5 Mile website says they are holding the event in more than 40 states and Washington, D.C.. However, police in each of these cities say no permits have ever been obtained to hold the race.

The growing popularity of "color runs" are basically "fun runs" in which participants are encouraged to wear white clothes and then get sprinkled along the course with a variety of powdered dyes.

Our advice? If you want to participate in a color run, stick with the Color Vibe 5K held at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds on August 22.
