Temperatures Continue to Rise [Infographic]
It was 7 years ago this month that Faith, South Dakota set the state’s highest recorded air temperature reaching a sweltering 120 degrees. What about the rest of the nation? Are we experiencing a steady increase in global warming?
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, 2012 was the warmest year on record for the contiguous United States.
This month also marked the 100th anniversary of the hottest temperature ever recorded on the surface of the earth. It reached 134 degrees F. at appropriately named Furnace Creek, Calif. on July 10, 1913.

Among the startling statistic, according to Science daily, earth is experiencing one of the largest climate changes in history, but a study at Stanford University warns that the real problem is how fast it’s happening. Climate scientists say that change over the next century will happen 10 times quicker than any shift in the past 65 million years. Change that used to take thousands of years is taking decades.
