You may have read another article I wrote about my "adopted nephew" Dakota Case. But- just in "Case" you missed it, let me reiterate, Dakota is one of the best people it has been my pleasure to have known, in my entire life. He is terribly smart, kind to a fault and so immensely musically talented that it boggles more minds than simply mine!

He also has a broken heart. He was born with a rare heart defect, has already had three open heart surgeries in his life and is currently hospitalized in the coronary ICU at Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. He developed severe pneumonia and went into heart failure at the end of May and has been hospitalized there ever since with his parents Chuck and Jennifer (Case School of Music) at his side. The hope is that Dakota will come through this crisis, be put back on the heart transplant list and soon have a new heart.

A GoFundMe account was started to help cover costs being incurred by Dakota and his parents as a result of all of them not being able to work. There is also a very tasty fundraiser being held on July 22, 2015 at the Tea Pizza Ranch from 5 to 8 PM. So come out, nosh on your favorite pizza, chicken and more while knowing you're helping an extraordinary family weather a difficult life storm.
