A former South high school standout athlete is coming home to continue her career at South Dakota State. Tagyn Larson, a four-time all-state player at Roosevelt, and finalist for the 2015 Miss Basketball award in South Dakota is transferring from Iowa to SDSU.

Larson, the younger sister of former Jackrabbit men's basketball player Cody Larson, and former SDSU volleyball player Wagner Larson, played ten minutes in five games for the University of Iowa this past season. By NCAA rules, she will sit out the 2016-17 season, but will have three years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2017-18 season.

Larson becomes the fourth top-100 national recruit on the SDSU roster. She was the 100th-best player and 15th-best wing in the Class of 2015 according to ESPN HoopGurlz. In her senior season at Roosevelt, Larson averaged 17 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocks and 2 assists per game while shooting 48 percent from the field. She holds the Roosevelt career records for blocks (252) and rebounds (634) at Roosevelt and scored 1,038 career points.

Larson was also a standout in volleyball for Roosevelt, earning all-state, all-conference and all-city honors.
