Soundgarden's first album in 16 years, King Animal, debuted at Number Five on the Billboard album chart last Wednesday (November 21st), selling 83,000 copies in its first week of release. The CD arrived in stores on November 13th and followed up the band's 1996 album Down On The Upside, which debuted at Number Two. Soundgarden disbanded in 1997 after touring that record, reuniting in 2010 and releasing a live album and hits compilation before getting to work on King Animal.
