Metallica enjoyed one of the year's bigger single-destination festivals with their inaugural Orion Music + More festival this past June and they now plan on bringing it back for year two … but in a different location. Rather than staging it again in Atlantic City, the band will pack up the festival and move to Detroit for 2013.
Metallica are just starting in on their follow-up to the 2008 album 'Death Magnetic' and drummer Lars Ulrich says that the early sessions are revealing a "heavy, energetic" vibe for the forthcoming release.
Metallica released its Quebec Magnetic Blu-ray/DVD on Monday (December 10th), marking the first product issued by the band on its own label, Blackened Recordings. The disc merges together footage from two shows the band did in Quebec City in the fall of 2009 as part of its World Magnetic Tour.
Metallica now answer to no one. After a 28-year relationship with Warner Music the hugely popular heavy metal band has formed their own record label, which will now house all of their master ("...master!") recordings, including songs and long form videos. Moving forward all releases will be under the Blackened Recordings banner.
