By 1988, Led Zeppelin had been disbanded for the better part of a decade, its members having moved on to solo careers in a show of respect for their fallen drummer John Bonham. But as they'd shown in 1985 with their mini-reunion for Live Aid, they were willing to come together for the right cause.

There's no denying the popularity of Queen, at least in their native England, as they've topped yet another poll there.
This one was Absolute Radio's Icon poll. James Curran, the station's Head of Music, says, "The poll was all about celebrating the iconic artists that feature on our playlists across our network of decade stations. Queen have yet again proved themselves as one of the U.K.’s most iconic bands by topping this poll of absolute music greats.”

Artist Storm Thorgerson, who created some of the most iconic album covers in rock music history, has died. The designer -- whose creations included the prism artwork on the cover of Pink Floyd's 'The Dark Side of the Moon' -- passed away peacefully on Thursday.

By 1981, two of the most successful and influential British rock groups of the '70s -- Led Zeppelin and Yes -- had come to an end, and the members of each band were all looking for new opportunities. In April 1981, former Yes drummer Alan White and bassist Chris Squire got together with Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page for a proposed supergroup called XYZ -- which could have also included Robert Plant, but never quite got off the ground.
