John Lennon ‘Letters’ Book Out Now
Out today (October 8th) is the Yoko Ono sanctioned book, The John Lennon Letters. Tomorrow (October 9th) marks what would've been Lennon's 72nd birthday. The John Lennon Letters was edited by noted Beatles author Hunter Davies and features letters sent by the late Beatle to lovers, friends, family, and fans from every point in his life, and culled from a collection over nearly 300 letters and postcards. Highlights include Lennon's rants to and against the press, Yoko bashers, producer George Martin, and Paul and Linda McCartney.
37 Years Ago: John Lennon’s Deportation Order Reversed
On Oct. 7, 1975, New York State Supreme Court judge Irving Kaufman reversed a deportation order for John Lennon, allowing him to legally remain in the United States. Lennon was in the spotlight throughout the first few years of the decade, not only due to his music and his status as a former Beatle, but equally for his very outspoken stance on the Vietnam War and the Nixon administration.

The Beatles ‘Love Me Do’ Turns 50 Today [VIDEO]
It was 50 years ago today (October 5th, 1962) that the Beatles' first single "Love Me Do"'/"P.S. I Love You" was released on EMI's Parlophone Records in England. Although the song went on to top the U.S. charts two years later, it's initial release in 1962 saw the Beatles score a sizable, but still minor, Top 20 hit with "Love Me Do" peaking at a respectable Number 17.
Beatles Producer Saluted In New DVD
Out now is the career-spanning documentary Produced By George Martin. The doc about the Beatles' legendary producer, first aired last year as part of Britain's Arena TV series and features new and exclusive interviews with surviving Beatles, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr. In addition to his work with the Beatles, Gerry & The Pacemakers, America, and others, the doc showcases Martin's legendary comedy work with Spike Milligan and Peter Sellers, among others. Martin is interviewed throughout by his son, producer Giles Martin, and sheds light on his military past as a pilot in the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy.

John Lennon Peace Grant To Go To Jailed Russian Group
Yoko Ono and Amnesty International have announced that members of the jailed Russian group Pussy Riot are among the winners of the 2012 Lennon Ono Grant for Peace. Rolling Stone reported that the members "will be awarded an unspecified grant" during today's (September 21st) ceremony in New York City. While some members of the group fled Russia, three group members remain imprisoned and are appealing their two-year sentence for hooliganism after a demonstration in a church where they burned a poster of Russian president Vladimir Putin.
Dylan Talks Lennon, Springsteen and Bono To Rolling Stone [VIDEO]
Nearly 32 years after his murder, Bob Dylan has finally eulogized John Lennon in song on his newly released album, Tempest. In the current issue of Rolling Stone, Dylan talks about three of the most important artists of the past half century -- all of whom Dylan has shared a personal bond with -- Bruce Springsteen, Bono, and Lennon.
