A private, by invitation only tribute to singer/songwriter JJ Cale was held in Santa Monica, California last week and Eric Clapton showed up to pay his respects and play a couple of songs.
One of the innovators of the 'Tulsa Sound' and a huge influence on artists like Mark Knopfler and Eric Clapton (who covered Cale's "Cocaine" and "After Midnight" among many others) died of a heart attack Friday night (July 26) in LaJolla, California. He was 74.
