After he left 'Saturday Night Live' but before he cemented his status as one of the most bankable comedy stars of the '80s, Chevy Chase tried his hand at being a solo recording artist -- and if this post marks your introduction to his 1980 self-titled album, you can probably figure out why you've never heard it before.
‘Slowhand,' released on the first day of November 1977, came at a crucial point in Eric Clapton’s career. After more than a decade as rock’s reigning guitar god, the 32-year-old Cream and Derek and the Dominos leader was coming off two unremarkable solo albums. ‘461 Ocean Boulevard,’ from 1974, proved Clapton could carry a song-oriented record under his own name; ‘There’s One in Every Crowd’ (1975) and ‘No Reason to Cry’ (1976) sank under their aimless and bloated self-importance.
The Rolling Stones continue to rehearse in Paris for their four 'anniversary' shows coming up in London and New Jersey and sat down for a round of interviews and were asked about ticket prices (about $800 for top tier tickets), and were asked if they were going to do a full-blown tour in 2013
Eric Clapton just gottten a whole lot richer -- over $34 million richer, to be exact. Ultimate Classic Rock reported: "Clapton got quite the return on his investment. He purchased the 1994 painting, Abstraktes Bild (809-4) by German artist Gerhard Richter, along with two others in Richter's 809 series, for $3.4 million in 2001.
Although he's received many a big royalty check in his lifetime, it's doubtful Eric Clapton has ever gotten one to compare with the payment he's about to get. A painting from his collection sold at a London auction on Friday (Oct. 12) for more than $34 million.
