Black Sabbath will receive the Living Legend award from England's Classic Rock magazine. Ozzy Osbourne says, “It’s good to be a living legend. It’s better than being a dead one.” Previous winners include ZZ Top, Jeff Beck, Alice Cooper and Jimmy Page. Ozzy already won it as a solo artist in 2008.
Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi says he'd love to make another record with the band -- but admits that it all depends on how his health holds up. Iommi, who was diagnosed with cancer in January 2012 and continues to undergo treatment for the disease, told CT.com, "It's a question that's been asked a few times. I don't really have an answer. Because of my treatments and stuff I can't commit to doing another two years or anything like that. I have to play it as it comes now."
For original Black Sabbath drummer Bill Ward, there's a simple explanation as to why he didn't record or tour with his bandmates. "I was offered a contract, and I couldn't sign it," he said in a recent interview. He refutes suggestions that he wasn't physically up to the task.
Black Sabbath kicked off its North American tour last Thursday night (July 25th) in Houston, with the reunited group adding four tracks from its new album 13 to a set already filled with Sabbath classics and a few deeper album cuts.
