Summit League Women: South Dakota State Stays Perfect, Beats Denver

Slow starts have been problematic for South Dakota State in the 2014 Summit League season, but when the Jackrabbits hit their stride they've impossible to beat after six conference games, running their record to 6-0 with a 72-61 win over Denver at frost Arena in Brookings.

SDSU started cold, hitting just 1-of-6 early, falling behind by as many as 6.

But found their shooting touch, making just under 50 percent of their shots the rest of the way turning a tie game into and eight point lead, while limiting Denver to 31 percent shooting in the first half.

South Dakota State enjoyed a 32-27 lead at the break.

In the second half, much better shooting for SDSU (50%) and great production from the bench. propelling them to an 11-point lead.

Steph Paluch overcame a 4-of-13 shooting night to lead the Jacks with 14 points, Megan Waytashek added 11.  Off the bench Tara Heiser had 11, as SDSU reserves outscored Denver 24-6. SDSU hit 10 3-pointers in the win, the first time they've done that in more than two months.

Paige Bradley had 24 points for the Pioneers.

The Jackrabbits (15-7/6-0) host South Dakota Sunday afternoon.
