Recent rains have put a slight damper on the widening of Solberg Avenue in Sioux Falls. Work continues to plug forward.

One good aspect of the rain is that the project engineers can see how well it drains. As you look in the photo gallery there are are changes to the retention pond between the street and Interstate 29.

A lot of dirt is being hauled out and a temporary track was built to get the semi trucks in and out of the construction zone. Unfortunately, a mini pond resulted, but that was part of the project.

For now the apartment dwellers have one less outlet for their cars as Solberg is cut off to traffic. Valhalla Boulevard is still an option, though.

Four lanes and a traffic signal are yet to come. Stay tuned for further updates as the entire project will take until November 2015 to finish between 49th and 57th Streets.
