‘Under The Dome’ Airs Monday Night
Shortly before noon on Saturday October 21, something strange happened in the small Maine town of Chester’s Mill. The townspeople are separated from the outside world by an invisible barrier of unknown origin.
This terrifying scenario begins Stephen King’s novel, Under the Dome, that was originally published in November, 2009.
The plot unfolds as more than a thousand of the town’s residents are quickly incinerated on national television, leaving alive only the twenty-six survivors at the abandoned barn, an orphaned farm boy hiding in a potato cellar and other post-apocalyptic events only from the mind of the horror master.
Shortly after the release of the book, it was announced that Steven Spielberg‘s DreamWorks Television would be developing a miniseries based on the novel. Spielberg and King were announced as executive producers.
After being juggled around a bit, including interest by the cable network Showtime, it was finally announced that it would premiere on June 24, 2013, on CBS television.
Having devoured the 1,074 page hardcover book purchased on the release date, I’m eagerly awaiting the television event. Of course, owning an autographed first-edition copy of The Stand is still one of my life’s wishes…(hint, hint, Mr. King…big fan here…)
Here’s a look at the CBS summer mini-series event.
