The San Antonio Spurs made a headlining move on Tuesday and it had nothing to do with the roster on the court.

They hired Rapid City native and WNBA star Becky Hammon as an assistant coach on their staff.

The San Antonio Spurs made the announcement earlier on Tuesday but not details of the deal were released.

Hammon is not the first woman to be an assistant in the NBA.  In the 2001-2002 season Lisa Boyer served on Jon Lucas's staff in Cleveland.

During her WNBA career, Becky Hammon made six All Star appearances and she has spent the past eight years with the San Antonio Stars and was familiar to the organization.  She is their all-time leader in many different categories.
