SpongeBob SquarePants Tombstones Irks Cemetery
A pair of SpongeBob SquarePants headstones are causing a stir in a Ohio cemetery. After the death of Sgt. Kimberly Walker — allegedly killed by her boyfriend in Colorado — the soldier’s parents wanted to honor their daughter with her favorite cartoon character.
SpongeBob went in her casket before we laid her in the ground.” – Deborah Walker, mother, WLWT news in Cincinnati.
Even as an adult, Kimberly owned several toys, even a shower curtain, that depicted SpongeBob.
But, somehow, filling the casket with some of her favorite possessions didn’t seem to be enough for the grieving parents. So, they had a pair of 7,000 lb. monuments made and placed them in the nearby Cemetery of Spring Grove.

The cemetery didn’t agree.
Spring Grove said the headstones didn’t fit in with the cemetery’s guidelines and had them removed.
The family wants SpongeBob back where he belongs — watching over Kimberly.
Talks between both sides are ongoing.
