We all know that Pierre is our state capital, right? The seat of our state government, the place where laws are born, legislators debate, committees study, investigate, and send bills to the governor for his signature or veto. We are all aware of that, but what we might not be aware of, (or maybe it was just me) is that Pierre is one of the most livable state capitals in the country!

This is according to our friends at WalletHub. They compared all 50 state capitals, looking at many facets of living in them including, but not limited to; quality of life, economic factors, educational systems, poverty levels, amount of debt residents carry, health conditions, hours worked per week, number of local attractions, crime rate and more.

When they were all done this was the list of the top ten most livable state capitals:

  1. Austin, Texas
  2. Lincoln, Nebraska
  3. Bismarck, North Dakota
  4. Madison, Wisconsin
  5. Raleigh, North Carolina
  6. Boise, Idaho
  7. Montpelier, Vermont
  8. Pierre, South Dakota
  9. Helena, Montana
  10. Columbus, Ohio

Interesting, huh? To see the complete report just go to WalletHub.
