One suspect was shot during an incident Monday afternoon along Interstate 90 west of Rapid City. A South Dakota Highway Patrol trooper attempted to make a traffic stop when a brief pursuit east on Interstate 90 ended in a parking lot near Exit 55.

The shooting happened during the attempt to apprehend the suspects.  Two persons were in the car which crashed at the end of the pursuit.  One of the suspects tried to flee the scene on foot, but was shot by a South Dakota Trooper.  The suspect who was shot was taken to the hospital and his condition is unknown.  No officers were injured during the apprehension. The South Dakota Division of Criminal Investigation is investigating the incident and the Pennington County Sheriff's Department assisted at the scene.
