South Dakota Fugitive Kicks Out Cop Window to Escape

On Sunday (March 20, 2016) Mitchell authorities say that escapee Jamie Ray Benedict was arrested in Gregory County after a vehicle pursuit. Benedict was a passenger in the vehicle.

At the time of the arrest, methamphetamine was found on Benedict. He is currently being held at the jail in Winner.

On Thursday night (March 17, 2016), the 29-year-old Benedict kicked out the window of a police car following a traffic stop in Mitchell. The traffic stop yielded 44 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

Shortly after he escaped, police received a report of a stolen pickup in the area. The pickup was found in Armour on Friday morning (March 18, 2016).
