Classic rockers showed that the single-song art form was still relevant in 2016, and that makes voting for this year's Ultimate Classic Rock Awards Song of the Year category just that much more difficult.

David Bowie left us with one last darkly emotional gift, the Rolling Stones made a bold and satisfying return to their blues roots, Paul Simon continued his own thrilling musical explorations and Metallica blew our musical doors off once more.

Iggy Pop, Graham Nash, Cheap Trick, the Pretenders and the Monkees also staged impressive returns, while relative newcomers like the Tedeschi Trucks Band and Airbourne helped lead the way forward for the next generation.

Best of all? Even with all of that one-track greatness, there are still several other worthy candidates to consider among our 20 nominees for 2016 UCR Song of the Year award. You can learn more about each by checking out our ballot right here.

If you’re torn between two or more candidates — or just want to be sure you do everything you can to make sure your favorite track wins — you can keep coming back every hour to cast your ballot again and again. Voting for each of the 2016 Ultimate Classic Rock Awards categories ends on Jan. 9, 2017, at 11:59PM ET. As always, the winner will be decided solely by reader’s votes, so don’t be shy about hitting those polls — and may the best song win!
