With the ever changing tide of business, there have been many rumors to begin the new year with stores in the Empire Mall in Sioux Falls.

The latest rounds of closings have hit the Sears wing particularly hard. The latest casualty is Deb, a junior clothing retailer, who is already having a going-out-of-business sale. Across the hall, Bad Habit Boutique has also closed.

It was also announced last week the Wet Seal was closing several stores across the nation, including the Rushmore mall location in Rapid City, but the Sioux Falls location will remain open.

However, fans of Peachwave Frozen Yogurt begin their day of mourning as it also closed it's mall location.

The Empire Mall's JCPenney is safe after the company announcing it is closing it's Aberdeen location. Meanwhile, Macy's has announced it will close several locations across the U.S. in 2015, but the Sioux Falls location will remain open.

As far as the Sears wing is concerned, shoppers are still able to enjoy a good burger and a cold beer at Applebee's Bar & Grill, grab some vintage clothing at Ragstock, and buy an organ from a guy named "Wild Bill."

As for me and the guys, at least there are still a couple a places to grab a beer while the wives are shopping, but I still miss the little bookstore across from Victoria's Secret...or as my kids call it, "the skimpy underpants barn."
