It's another small-town celebration that shouldn't be overlooked! Summer is a great time to get out of the big city and explore the surrounding areas for fun things to do on the weekend. One of my favorite things (and not just because I call this town home,) is Teapot Days.

Located about 10 miles southwest of Sioux Falls, Tea, South Dakota invites everyone to Teapot Days, a tradition that started in 1996 and just continues to grow. Teapot Days start on Wednesday, June 17,2015 with a CommuniTEA BBQ at the Trinity Lutheran Church from 5:30PM-7:00PM.

The official start of Teapot Days is Thursday, June 18, 2015, with the opening of the Mighty Thomas Carnival on Brian Street located next to the City Park and the crowning of Ma and Pa Teapot at 7:00pm at the Tea Community Hall.

Main Street in downtown Tea will be busy Friday, June 19, 2015 with a Car & Motorcycle Show and Shine, a free kid's pedal pull and an outdoor concert starting at 9:00PM.

A pancake breakfast starts the day on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Tea Community Hall with the parade beginning at 10:00AM. There will be food, vendors and music in the City Park Saturday afternoon, along with the TAPPS Bean Bag Tournament, Cow Pie Bingo, pie and ice cream social and free swimming in the Tea Pool from 1:00PM-5:00PM.

Bring your own lawn chairs and blankets to watch the weekend end with a blast! Fireworks at 10:30PM by the City Park.
