Lynyrd Skynyrd founder and guitarist Gary Rossington (third from left) has been hospitalized in Wyoming with an abdominal infection according to the band's Facebook page.

The news also includes cancellations of the bands shows scheduled this weekend in Biloxi, Mississippi.

The statement says that they are awaiting further tests and treatment before releasing any more details.

The 61-year old Rossington was a survivor of the 1977 band plane crash that killed bandmates Ronnie Van Zant, Steve Gaines, Cassie Gaines and three others. Rossington still suffers from leg problems in connection with that crash.

Rossington also has had heart problems in the past which were successfully treated with surgeries.

Lynyrd Skynyrd has plans to do a co-headlining tour this summer with Bad Company.

Get well soon Gary.
