One streak ended, but another string continues as the Rio Grande Valley Vipers subdued the Sioux Falls Skyforce 105-90 on Monday.

A seven-game win streak for Sioux Falls (7-3) is stopped as cold shooting (37 percent) would be suspect number one for the setback. Trouble is the Vipers (6-4) didn’t shoot that well either (42 percent), but collected 20 offensive rebounds to supplement their cause.

As for the streak that is sustained, through ten games for the Skyforce only one has been down to the wire. Opening night against the Iowa Energy was a three point decision. All the others have been decided by ten or more points.

Rodney McGruder showed the way for Sioux Falls by netting 18 points on 6-11 shooting from the floor. Rookie guard Jabril Trawick had a breakout game by adding 16 points by going 4-5 from the floor, 3-4 from long range and 5 of 6 from the line.

Five players for Rio Grande Valley hit double figures. The top three scorers were Jaron Johnson (24 points, 10 rebounds), Montrezl Harrel (21 points, 6 rebounds) and Raphiael Putney (18 points, 13 rebounds).

The Skyforce will return home to meet Fort Wayne on Friday night. Rio Grande Valley will be plenty busy this weekend with home and away games on Thursday and Friday respectively against Austin and a road trip to Los Angeles and Bakersfield for games Sunday and Monday.
