Sioux Falls earns the season sweep and clinches a non-losing season. Westchester still has just one road win this season after the Skyforce defeat the Knicks 124-106 on Saturday night in front of 3,405 at the Sanford Pentagon.

Improvements were made by both teams in the second game between these two teams on consecutive nights. Offensive output was better by far as both teams bettered their season averages in points and shooting percentage. Sioux Falls (25-19) cut down on turnovers and Westchester (10-34) shored up the rebounding effort.

At the 6:55 mark of the second quarter the Knicks trailed 45-40. In two minutes the game changed. Larry Drew II was the first to connect from long range and Andre Dawkins hit three more for a 12-0 spurt that pushed the lead to 17 and never got below double digits for the balance of the game.

Dawkins finished with 14 points and noted that both teams played each other hard, but respectfully. “Obviously we’re competing out there, but at the same time this late in the season it would be pointless to get somebody hurt. If (an opponent) falls down, help them up and let the game do the talking.”

The guard from Duke was also quick to credit the big men for their efforts tonight. “Khem (Birch) was all over the court. Also when (Shawn Jones) gets it, he puts it in the basket. Whenever we get kind of production out of our bigs, that’s great. It makes us even tougher.” Jones scored the most for Sioux Falls with a career high 31, while Birch scored 11 with 16 rebounds. Scotty Hopson was also heavily involved with 23 tallies and the aforementioned Drew scored 15 with 11 assists. Take a look at a big night from Shawn Jones below.

Westchester was paced for the second straight night by Doron Lamb’s 25 points and Thanasis Antetokounmpo was next with 19 points. Center Ben Strong posted a double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Sioux Falls is headed west for a Wednesday night shootout with Reno. Westchester is back home and will lock horns Tuesday with Canton.
