Falling down early then getting up late earned the Skyforce a 100-93 victory over Santa Cruz on Friday night at Kaiser-Permanente Arena.

The Warriors (2-3) took the early lead by scoring eight straight out of the gate and eventually sprinting to a 23-8 lead seven and a half minutes into the ballgame. Sioux Falls (4-1) was able to level the score and take the lead in the opening stages of the second quarter.

Leading that effort was Jabril Trawick who was summoned to action just 90 seconds into the game due to an injury to Stefan Jankovic. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Trawick proceeded to score 11 in the opening frame and a career-high 30 overall to lead the visitors to victory.

“I just saw openings and I was being aggressive. Bubu Palo was out for us tonight who is a big slasher. I knew that I would have to be more assertive with him being out.”

Keith Benson also filled the void for Sioux Falls with 23 points, 17 rebounds and 5 blocks with Briante Weber contributing 15 points, 14 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals. Santa Cruz got big numbers from Cam Jones (22 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists) and Scott Wood (21 points, 6 boards).

Sioux Falls continues their road swing with a Sunday meeting in Prescott with the Northern Arizona Suns. A long road trip is in the offing for the Warriors beginning with a trek to Reno on Sunday.
