Multiple second chances kept the Canton Charge in control of a 102-84 road win against the Sioux Falls Skyforce on Friday night at the Sanford Pentagon. The loss snapped a five-game win streak for the ‘Force.

Extra opportunities would be defined as offensive rebounds of which Canton (17-14) collected 18 that led to 26 points. Sioux Falls (17-12) could only grab 6 offensive boards for 6 tallies.

Skyforce forward Shawn Jones was direct in his assessment of Canton’s rebounding success as the difference in the game. “We got manhandled on the boards. They had a ton of second chance points. That’s something we’re going to fix by limiting them to one shot per possession (Saturday night).”

When Jones was shooting, he was hitting scoring 17 points on 8 of 12 attempts many of them from the outside. “They were just sitting back in the zone. Luckily I made them.”

Henry Walker led the Skyforce with 22 points, 10 of them coming during the first quarter as the Skyforce built a 26-21 lead. Be a witness to the spectacle on the video below.

However, a 27-8 run from the middle of the second period until halftime turned the tide in favor of the Charge. Cleveland’s Joe Harris on assignment with Canton poured in 23 points supported by a strong bench effort with four of five Charge reserves tallying double figures. Larry Drew II finished his stint with the Philadelphia 76ers and contributed 7 points and 7 assists in his return to the Skyforce.

Canton has won three straight. The two teams will meet Saturday for the traditional Military Night game to benefit the charity Operation Cares.
