A weekend attack outside a downtown bar left a Sioux Falls woman with head injuries. Police say it happened early Sunday outside Wiley's Tavern on North Main Avenue.

Officer Sam Clemens says the 28-year-old victim told police it took place as she left the bar sometime between 12:30am and 2am.

She said when she was outside, a man came up and hugged her. She didn't know him, but he grabbed her.

She tried to push him away and when she did, he punched her five or six times.

Clemens says the woman went to a hospital Sunday afternoon and learned she had a minor brain bleed and a concussion..

He says the only suspect description the woman was able to give police was that her attacker was a black male, five-feet-eight to six feet tall, with short hair and a mustache.
