If you don't lock your car doors and leave the vehicle running, Sioux Falls Police Information Officer Sam Clemens has a story worth reading!

"This car was left running at a gas station. The woman that owns the car went inside to pay for her gas. While she was inside, three people jumped in the car and took off. We had some information Friday night that one of the people...a 16-year-old boy...may have stolen the car. Officers were able to find him later that night. He left the car I believe in the possession of the other two. We found out he had initially taken the car and was arrested for the grand theft and alluding after he had tried to run away from police earlier the night."

Eventually, police located the vehicle.

"The car was found early Saturday morning. It was stuck at 5th Street and Phillips Avenue. We had two other juveniles: a 14-year-old boy and a 17-year-old girl inside. Both of them were arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle."

In an unrelated incident, police say another 16-year-old Sioux Falls teenager was arrested on DUI and grand theft charges after stealing a running car while intoxicated Saturday morning.
