A man who reported his daughter being held against her will at gunpoint was eventually taken into custody in Sioux Falls on Saturday (January 28).

Sioux Falls Police were dispatched to a reported weapons violation at the Love's truck stop and I-90 and North Cliff in Sioux Falls.

According to Sergeant Robert Forster, officers arrived and began talking to the man who had called authorities for help with his daughter, saying she had been forced into a vehicle at gunpoint.  Forester describes the response:

Based on the information provided by the male subject and aspects present during the initial stage of the investigation several assets including SWAT and CNU teams from the Sioux Falls Police Department were activated and utilized.  During the continued investigation the reported victim was found safe and unharmed in another community.

The man who initially called police for help was then taken into custody and was incarcerated at the Minnehaha County Jail for false reporting.
